Chris Brown is in some hot water.

E! News reported earlier today that the 27-year-old was the subject of a felony assault investigation with a deadly weapon after a woman called 911 claiming the singer threatened her with a gun. The victim, later identified by TMZ as Miss California Regional 2016 Baylee Curran, claimed Brown pointed a gun at her and threatened her. Lieutenant Chris Ramirez said the initial call came at 3 a.m. from the victim outside of the house.  A law enforcement source told E! News that Curran came to the West Valley police station early Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday evening, however, police confirmed that the R&B singer was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He was being taken to the Robbery Homicide Division of the LAPD.

A law enforcement source told E! News that the drama first began with a small party at Chris' house Monday night. According to the source, neighbors made several calls to the police station around 3 a.m. that they heard a woman screaming "Help!" down the street and around the block. The source said a number of calls were made from people inside the house and neighbors.

According to Nia Guzman's attorney Carl Anthony Moore, Brown's 2-year-old daughter Royalty was with her father when the incident occurred. He told E! News that at some point Tuesday morning, Royalty was taken to school, but once the news broke, Guzman picked her up. However, Brown's attorney Mark Geragos told E! News, "That is categorically untrue. [Royalty] wasn't and isn't here."

The singer responded to earlier reports on social media, taking to Instagram with a personal message via video. "So I'm sleep half the damn night. Since news broke of the current investigation, a dozen cop cars collected in Brown's Tarzana neighborhood to further investigate at the Grammy winner's home, where Brown had refused to leave. According to NBC News, Brown did not immediately cooperate with police and would not come out and speak to officers. "We are currently working with Mr. Brown's representative to make contact with him," Ramirez told E! News.

Meanwhile, the case has since been taken over by the West Valley Robbery Homocide Division who arrived on site. If Chris didn't leave the house by a certain point, SWAT could have been called in. "This is a normal response when someone is armed and refusing to come out," a law enforcement source told E! News. The source also explained that because Brown is a celebrity, robbery homicide detectives were called in rather than regular police. While a law enforcement source confirms someone threw a bag outside of a window, police cannot confirm what the bag contained.

Criminal defense attorney Setara Qassim from Geragos & Geragos was seen being driven up to Brown's house in a squad car. Later, two friends of Brown's walked into the area to help negotiate and get him out, according to one source. The men were driven up to the house in a police car followed by three detective cars. Geragos subsequently arrived. "He's trying to help talk some sense into [Chris]," a law enforcement source told E! News.

By late afternoon, Ramirez told reporters no arrests had been made, but a search warrant had been obtained and police were interviewing six men and women inside the house to corroborate their stories.

Performer Ray J, who was reportedly as the house, later spoke out about the ongoing ordeal on social media. "Yo this Ray J, check it out, I'm real upset about today. I'm not happy with how things are handled and how people can take a false story and blow it up into something way more than what it should be," he said in an Instagram video.

"You got just positive people around and you look outside and it's like a war zone for no reason for somebody, some stranger said about something that don't got nothing to do with nothing. And to react like that so fast without really knowing the facts and knowing what's up aint cool and ya know. It's just not right. It shouldn't be like this. I support the homie Chris and I support the whole movement. I'm here and again man this s--t got to change. It can't be like this every time somebody yippin and yappin to get an extra buck. Ya know it turns around and it's all back on us. Ain't cool."

Curran also took to Instagram herself, saying into the camera, "Do you all honestly think I wanted this and I caused this? If somebody put a gun to your head, what would you do—call the police?"

As reported by NBC News, Chris could face up to three years in a California state prison if the LAPD can prove that Brown was in possession of a firearm. He was convicted for his domestic violence assault on Rihanna, which he pleaded guilty to in 2009. Most recently, Brown's manager sued the R&B singer for alleged assault and battery
