How was this for a Monday surprise?

In case you missed the big news, Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes welcomed a baby girl on April 29 at Providence St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica, Calif.

According to the birth certificate obtained just today by TMZ, the famous parents named their baby girl Amada Lee Gosling. If Amada sounds familiar, you're absolutely onto something.

Their newborn's name is actually their first-born daughter Esmeralda Amada Gosling's middle name. In addition, Eva has previously expressed that she wanted to agree on first and middle names that represented her Hispanic heritage. After all, her daughters have Ryan's surname.

"Amada" in Spanish can mean beloved, adored and dear. Coincidentally, Eva previously played a character named Amada Juarez in the 2007 film We Own the Night.

During filming, the actress reportedly asked director James Gray if he'd change her character's name to honor her late grandmother, whom she never met.

"I have a feeling that I am so like her, I feel like we're connected," Eva previously told PEOPLE EN ESPAÑOL when discussing her grandma.

Back in 2014, E! News confirmed that Eva and Ryan named their first bundle of joy Esmeralda Amada Gosling. A source shared that the twosome picked the name because it means "beautiful emerald" in Spanish. We also couldn't help but notice the parallels of the name and Eva's past roles.

The brunette beauty's character in We Own the Night was named Amada. In addition, Eva's character in V.I.P. just happened to be, wait for it, Esmeralda. Coincidences? We'll let you decide.

Congratulations to the happy couple on their newest arrival.
