Kim Kardashian West is understandably shaken up after being robbed at gunpoint in Paris.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star wasn't physically harmed, but a source tells E! News Kim is "emotionally damaged right now" in the wake of her terrifying attack.

"This is something that has the potential to screw anyone up for a very long time," adds a source. "It was incredibly frightening and it's going to take a while to get over it."

The mother of two "is OK," adds a source, "but she's still in shock that this happened. This was terrifying and it's going to be a process to get over it."

As horrific as the events in Paris were, though, they could have been even worse if North West and Saint West had been present. Kim is, of course, unwound by what transpired. "Ultimately, though," says a source, "she is so grateful her kids were not there."

Friends of Kim's "are very glad" that Kris Jenner was in town when the robbery took place, a source tells E! News. Kim "having her mum with her straight after helped immensely," says a source.

Kris, boyfriend Corey Gamble and lots of security joined Kim on a private flight from France back to New Jersey's Teterboro airport. Once back in the states, Kim reunited with husband Kanye West and was escorted to a private New York City apartment, where security continues to stand guard. Kanye has rescheduled two upcoming Saint Pablo Tour dates in order to remain close by Kim's side.
