Watch: Ryan Murphy Gushes Over Lady Gaga's Golden Globe Win

Ryan Murphy and his leading lady have something to celebrate. The mastermind behind American Horror Story: Hotel was singing the praises of Lady Gaga who took home her first-ever Golden Globe for her work in the FX series.

"The Golden Globes, you can never know what to expect with them," Murphy told E! News. "I was just so thrilled for her because I think it's something she's wanted since she was a child, to be an actor. When I first spoke to her she said, ‘I wanted to be an actor before a musician, but I always tanked my auditions because I was too nervous.' I said, ‘OK, I won't make you audition, I just want you to do my show.'"

Gaga took home the Golden Globe for playing The Countess in American Horror Story: Hotel, her first major acting gig. She beat out Fargo's Kirsten Dunst, Bessie star Queen Latifah, Felicity Huffman of American Crime and Flesh and Bone's Sarah Hay.

"I feel like Cher in the John Patrick Shanley movie Moonstruck right now," Gaga said on stage. "It is a great moment. I have to thank Ryan Murphy. You are just a wonderful human being. And you have believed in me so much and been such a good friend to me. Thank you to my wonderful cast. I love you guys so much. You're my family forever."

Murphy said Gaga was such a pro on set and he's never met a performer more universally beloved by the cast and the crew on set. "They really rooted for her every day…She's one of a kind."

American Horror Story has already been renewed for a sixth season and Murphy revealed to E! News he's begun telling the cast who they're playing next season because he had "too much to drink."

"I'm going to regret it tomorrow, I think I said too much too soon," he admitted.
