Get out the tissues, Grey's Anatomy fans. Actually, who are we kidding? You probably have gone through at least three boxes since last night's Grey's Anatomy. OK, are you prepared? Spoilers ahead, obviously.

Last night Grey's Anatomy killed off McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey). As if you didn't sob enough when Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) pulled the plug, ABC released the above retrospective video detailing the first meeting of Mer and Der and their epic, "extraordinary" relationship through the years. Of course it is set to "How to Save a Life."

ABC

"Just for the record, I am your knight in shining whatever."

Oh, the tears.

The drowning, the shooting, the feelings. "I want a lifetime." The tears are flowing.

"I'll see you around." Full on blubbering now.

"Derek Shepherd is and will always be an incredibly important character—for Meredith, for me and for the fans," series creator Shonda Rhimes said in a statement to E! News. "I absolutely never imagined saying goodbye to our 'Mcdreamy.' Patrick Dempsey's performance shaped Derek in a way that I know we both hope became a meaningful example—happy, sad, romantic, painful and always true—of what young women should demand from modern love. His loss will be felt by all. Now, Meredith and the entire Grey's Anatomy family are about to enter uncharted territory as we head into this new chapter of her life. The possibilities for what may come are endless. As Ellis Grey would say: the carousel never stops turning."

Grey's Anatomy airs Thursday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
