President Barack Obama's down time

Newlyweds Natalie Heimel and Edward Mallue Jr., both captains in the U.S. Army, may have suffered an inconvenience at the hands at the golf-club-wielding hands of the commander in chief, but they ultimately got the kind of gift you just can't register for after.

Having planned their wedding for Dec. 28 at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course on the Marine Corps Base Hawaii, they extended an invitation to Barack Obama, figuring the first family is always in town anyway for the holidays so...why not?!

On Saturday, according to Bloomberg Politics, the couple received a personalized note from Obama offering his regrets that he couldn't make it and wishing them well. A more unfortunate surprise came, however, when Mallue and Heimel were informed that they couldn't have their wedding where they had originally planned at the golf club—because it conflicted with POTUS' tee time.
