The first lady visited the Chengdu Panda Base with daughters Malia Obama and Sasha Obama and her mother, Marian Robinson, on Wednesday.
"I couldn't leave China without seeing the Chengdu Panda Base," Obama tweeted along with a sweet snapshot of two pandas enjoying some bamboo.
President Barack Obama's wife didn't get up close and personal with the native Chinese animals, but she did get to feed them some apple chunks on a large stick.
"Oh, they're chowing down" the 50-year-old can be heard saying about the black-and-white mammals during a short behind-the-scenes video posted to her official Twitter account.
The group also spent some time with some baby pandas that were around 8 months old.

"Pandas are an endangered species—fewer than 1,600 pandas remain in the wild—and that's why a place like the Chengdu Panda Base is so important," she wrote on her White House blog about the special experience. "Here at this base, scientists work to increase the panda population through breeding, conservation and researching how the bears live and grow."
In addition to visiting the Chengdu Panda Base, the FLOTUS, along with her mother and daughters, met Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan, and toured the Great Wall of China during their week abroad.
