If Anne Frank were alive today, Justin Bieber hopes she would've been a Belieber.

According to the Anne Frank House's Facebook page, the Biebs visited the museum in Amsterdam Friday night, stayed more than an hour with friends and left this note in its guestbook:

"Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber."

When news of Bieber's comment hit the Twitterverse, Emmy Rossum and others sounded off, with the Beautiful Creatures star tweeting Sunday, "Anne Frank suffered WW2 and Justin Bieber hopes she would have been a fan? I have no words."

A source told E! News, though, the "Boyfriend" crooner's comment didn't come from out of the blue.

"One of the guides pointed out that Anne was a big fan of pop culture of her time and that she might have been a fan of his, which led to what he wrote," the source said.

Bieber is in the midst of his European tour and stopped by the museum before heading to his performance Saturday night in Arnhem, Netherlands.
