It's officially the holiday season, which means the stress of gift giving is already upon us. When we ran into sisters Laura and Kate Mulleavy, the designing dream team behind cult-favorite fashion label Rodarte, at a festive and fashion-forward event celebrating their new collection for Starbucks, we couldn't help but wonder what their strategy is when it comes to holiday shopping.

Here's what they dished:

1. Always find a unique gift. "Get them something that no one else will. Really try to think outside the box," they advised.

2. Make it personal. "If you can't afford an amazing gift, or if you're just stumped in general, give the gift of your undivided attention," they said. Translation: Make time for someone! "We don't spend enough time with people that we care about."

3. Give gifts without expecting anything back. "You know when you're little and you make those coupon books for your parents to do chores? It's not like those are ever actually redeemed, but it's the thought that counts. It's just a nice thing to do to show people that you care about them."

Simple and sentimental? We couldn't have said it better ourselves! Keep these great tips in mind and remember to enjoy the spirit of the season after all.
