Some Hollywood history has tragically repeated itself.

Almost exactly 11 years to the day Dana Plato overdosed, her troubled son also took his own life.

The actress' young son, Tyler Lambert, committed suicide last Thursday, with the Tulsa Medical Examiner confirming to E! News today that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

There's no word yet on how or where his body was discovered. Toxicology tests are  pending.

Plato committed suicide by intentionally overdosing on painkillers on May 9, 1999. She was 34. Lambert died May 6, 2010. He was 25.

Lambert's grandmother Joni Richardson has already spoken out on the tragedy.

"Tyler wanted to be with his mother," she is quoted by the National Enquirer. "His father Lanny is devastated."

Plato and Lanny Lambert divorced in 1990, at which point he was granted custody of his son.

The elder Lambert has yet to comment on his son's passing, but Plato's former Diff'rent Strokes costar Todd Bridges released the following statement:

"I was deeply saddened to hear of the tragic suicide of Dana Plato's son, Tyler Lambert, nearly 11 years to the day that his mother died. Dana was an important part of my life and a dear friend, and I was also close with her son throughout his life. I can only hope that Dana and Tyler have been reunited and are both now at peace. My thoughts and prayers are with their surviving family members during this difficult time."
